How did you find out about Aurubis as an employer, and what made you decide to join Aurubis?

I found out about Aurubis as an employer because my grandfather worked there. Aurubis was very involved in social projects in my area, which is why I wanted to become part of this company.

What has your career at Aurubis been like so far? Have you held different positions or perhaps even worked in different departments and locations since you started at Aurubis? If you haven't been with Aurubis for very long, what are your impressions and experiences after your first few months?

I began my career at Aurubis in 2013 as an intern (10+ project) and then started an apprenticeship as a chemical production specialist in 2014. I was then hired by the acid plants in June 2016 and worked there as a production specialist. In order to further my education and take advantage of new career opportunities, I decided to start further training as an industrial foreman in chemistry in 2018, which I successfully completed in 2021. I currently work as an operator in the acid plants.

What has motivated you in your career so far? What motivated you to take these career steps (at Aurubis)?

In my career to date as a production and plant specialist at Aurubis, I have been motivated above all by the combination of challenges in my work and the excellent opportunities for advancement in our company. The varied and demanding tasks in acid production have always driven me to do my best. At the same time, the company offers great prospects for professional development, which gives me the certainty that my efforts are valued here.

What do you do in your current role at Aurubis? Feel free to give examples of current projects, if applicable.

Monitoring the plants, quality control, maintenance, and repair are key tasks in my current position to ensure that the plants run smoothly, product quality is guaranteed, and potential problems can be identified and rectified at an early stage.

The district heating project is currently in full swing. This is an exciting development! The construction of the largest heating network in Germany, which is heated by industrial waste heat, is a significant step toward sustainable energy supply. The use of industrial waste heat not only improves the efficiency of energy production but also reduces CO2 emissions. This project thus contributes to the energy transition and climate protection.

How would you explain your job to a toddler?

My job is like playing in a big laboratory where I make special things. Imagine we make magical liquids that go into large containers. I make sure everything is safe and that the liquids are of good quality. I also wear special clothing to protect myself, like a superhero, but for work.

If you were to think of Aurubis as a person, you could describe them as reliable, stable, and knowledgeable. They could also be seen as responsible, since the production of metals and chemicals requires careful processes to comply with environmental regulations and safety standards.

Is there a big dream that you would like to fulfill someday?

I have a big professional dream that I would like to make come true someday. My goal is to work as a manager at Aurubis, as I would like to take on responsibility and further develop my skills.

My biggest personal dream is to travel around the world and discover different countries and cultures. I am convinced that this could be an exciting and educational experience that would enrich my life in many ways.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy reading books, traveling with friends and family, and keeping up with the latest fashion trends. These activities enrich my life and allow me to pursue different interests.
