Aurubis Italia has successfully completed The Copper Mark assurance process, becoming the first site in Italy to receive the internationally recognized award for responsible metal production. The achievement marks another milestone in Aurubis’ commitment to sustainable value chains and makes the Aurubis site in Avellino the eighth Aurubis site to successfully complete The Copper Mark process.

The certification also completes the awarding of all four Aurubis rod plants, further strengthening the company's ability to provide customers worldwide with responsibly produced copper products backed by independently verified standards.

The site in Avellino produces highly conductive wire rod (Aurubis ROD) that is used as starting material for wire and cables, for a variety of products including wind turbines, electric vehicles, electronics and electricity transmission.

With Aurubis Italia now joining the framework, Aurubis continues to strengthen its network of The Copper Mark-awarded sites, covering all primary smelters, the majority of secondary smelters and fabricators, and now all four rod plants across the Group. This progress reflects Aurubis’ sustainability ambition, Tomorrow Metals, and its commitment to continuously improving responsible production standards throughout its operations.

“Receiving The Copper Mark is a significant achievement for our site and a testament to the dedication of our entire team,” said Bernardino Greco, Executive Director Project Management at Aurubis Italia’s Avellino site. “The assessment confirms that responsible production is deeply embedded in our daily operations and decision-making. As part of Aurubis’ global network, we are proud to contribute to building sustainable value chains while delivering the quality and reliability our customers expect.”

The certification further expands Aurubis’ growing Copper Mark coverage across its European production network. In recent years, the company has successfully certified or recertified sites in Bulgaria, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, while also extending the framework to downstream production facilities. Recent milestones include the successful reassessment of the Hamburg and Lünen smelters, as well as the Copper Mark award for Deutsche Giessdraht in Emmerich, strengthening responsible production across Aurubis’ integrated copper value chain.

Aurubis was among the early supporters of The Copper Mark and continues to advance responsible metal production through independent verification and continuous improvement. Today, Aurubis Italia joins a global community of more than 130 sites participating in The Copper Mark assurance framework, demonstrating a shared commitment to sustainable metal production and responsible value chains.
