Notification procedure in accordance to EU/1013/2006 - Handbook

Get in contact with your Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and inform them on what you plan to do. Furthermore, you should request the Notification Number from EPA. You need this number in the forms and for the contract.

The beneficiary in case of illegal shipment or in case that the recovery of the shipments cannot be completed as intend should be the authority in the country of dispatch. If they don't need a financial guarantee than please use Hamburg authority as beneficiary:

Calculation:
All shipments  of waste for which  notification is required shall be subject  to  the  requirement  of  a  financial  guarantee  or  equivalent  insurance  covering:
(a)  costs  of  transport;
(b)  costs of recovery or disposal, including any necessary interim operation; and
(c)  costs  of  storage  for  90  days.

5) List of all carriers (road and sea)

List of all carriers you plan to use from your site to Aurubis with address, contact person, telephone number, fax number, email and registration number

Please add your carrier for truck, vessel etc. in that document: here.

Attention: Only the named carrier can be used for the transports. So you may put in some alternatives. 

5.1) Detailed Transportation route

From your site to Aurubis including possible sea route and harbours that the ship passes

Important is also to name the right border crossing points in the list.

For transport with vessel the border crossing point in Germany is “Port of Hamburg”.

5.2) Transport licenses of the carriers within Germany

Shipping Company:

• (a)  costs of transport;
• (b)  costs of recovery or disposal, including any necessary interim operation; and
• (c)  costs of storage for 90 days.

You need a Chemical analysis according to the acceptance parameters of the relevant waste code of Aurubis, you will find the acceptance parameters behind each waste code in our “Annahmekatalog”. Please note, that this analysis must not be older than 6 months.

EU: Ovam accept the financial guarantee in the country of dispatch. 

Non-EU:
calculation

• total planned quantity (tonnage – case 5) x 2 € (with a minimum amount of 1200 €) x 4 (if hazardous waste, EWC-code with * – case14)
                                                                              x 2 (If exporting to or importing from a country that is not part of the EU)

*For Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, the calculation of EU countries applies. An additional multiplication by factor 2 is then not necessary.

The beneficiary in case of illegal shipment or in case that the recovery of the shipments cannot be completed as intended, should be the authority in the country of dispatch.

A multiplying factor of 1,2 is required according to Royal Decree 208/2022 of 22 March on financial guarantees for waste.

Example:

• costs of transport                             100 €/t
• + costs of recovery or disposal       200 €/t
• + costs for 90 days storage                90 €/t
                                                               390 €/t

Amount of financial guarantee (applying the required 1,2 factor): 390 €/t x 1.000 t x 1,2 = 468.000 €
