How did you find out about Aurubis as an employer, and what made you decide to start working there?

Both my grandfather and my father worked or still work at Aurubis. So I have known the company since I was a child and associate it with a very good employer. Both of them spent almost their entire working lives at Aurubis, which made me interested in getting to know the company.

What has your career at Aurubis been like so far? Have you held different positions or perhaps even worked in different departments and locations since you started at Aurubis? If you haven't been with Aurubis for very long, what are your impressions and experiences after your first few months?

I started my training as a chemical technician in September 2010. I successfully completed my training in the summer of 2013 and immediately started working as a plant technician in the contact plant at the East site. Over time, I decided to continue my education and started attending master craftsman school while working. After completing my master craftsman's certificate, I applied internally at Aurubis AG for the position of shift supervisor in the electrolysis plant at the East Plant. I held this position from summer 2020 until April 2023. Since April 2023, I have been working as a day shift supervisor at ELWO.

What has motivated you in your career so far? What motivated you to take these career steps (at Aurubis)?

I am always motivated to learn something new and take on more responsibility. With increased responsibility, I was able to contribute more and more to advancing Aurubis. I enjoy working with different departments and achieving a common goal together.

What do you do in your current role at Aurubis? Please feel free to give examples of current projects, if applicable.

I am currently responsible for all personnel-related activities at ELWO. This means that I am involved in everything from the recruitment process to employee departure. I am also responsible for occupational safety at our company.

How would you explain your job to a small child?

I make copper with the help of large machines.

What makes Aurubis unique for you?

It's hard to say, as I've only ever worked for Aurubis and have nothing to compare it with. However, it's the cooperation with my colleagues that makes working at Aurubis so special for me.

Is there anything, a nice anecdote or a special experience that you associate with Aurubis?

The Aurubis Christmas market is a great event to spend quality time with family, friends, and coworkers.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to spend time with my family and do things with them. I like going to the soccer stadium and watching St. Pauli with friends.
