More than 6 000 plants planted in the Srednogorie region with the support of Aurubis Bulgaria

In April 2025, Aurubis Bulgaria implemented the next stage of the "Beautiful Srednogorie" initiative aimed at creating a cleaner, greener and more welcoming environment for life, recreation and tourism development in the Srednogorie region.

This year's spring edition involved the municipalities of Zlatitsa, Pirdop, Chelopech, Anton and Koprivshtitsa, as well as local schools, kindergartens, volunteers and partner organizations.

The focus was on the area around the Dusantsi Dam, where over 100 participants took part in beautifying public spaces, renovating recreation areas, cleaning and planting over 1 000 ornamental plants and flowers. Representatives of the Dushantsi Town Hall, the State Forestry "Pirdop", the company "Simacek", the Hunting and Fishing Association "Srednogorie", the Canoe Kayak team and participants from the "ESG platform" actively participated in the initiative.

The total number of flowers, trees and shrubs planted within the initiative reached 6 359.

Earlier in April, the traditional stocking of the Dusantsi Dam was also held, during which over 13 000 fish of the species carp, speckled trout and sturgeon were released. The activity aims at protecting and restoring the aquatic ecosystem and creating a more attractive environment for fishing and tourism. The initiative was carried out with the cooperation of LRC "Srednogorie", IARA and scientific support from Sofia University and the Basin Directorate.

"Beautiful Srednogorie" is a long-term commitment of "Aurubis Bulgaria" to the sustainable development of the region, which unites the efforts of the industry, local authorities and citizens to make Srednogorie a preferred place to live and visit.
