Aurubis Bulgaria provides €563,000 in support of the Municipality of Pirdop under a new partnership program

The Municipality of Pirdop and Aurubis Bulgaria signed a new partnership program under which the company will provide €563,000 for activities supporting the development of the municipality. The program covers projects in the priority areas of education, healthcare, culture, sports, social activities, and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. The deadline for the implementation of the planned projects is September 30, 2027.
The agreement was signed by Angel Gerov, Mayor of Pirdop Municipality, and Rakan Rahbani, CEO of Aurubis Bulgaria, in the presence of Ivan Dzhongov, Chairman of the Municipal Council, and Ivailo Georgiev, Head of Sustainability and Public Affairs at the company.
"The partnership on these projects is extremely important for the development of our municipality. They have a visible return on investment and make a real contribution to improving the quality of life of the people of Pirdop. We are delighted with the successes and achievements of our sports clubs and amateur groups, which represent the municipality with dignity and prove that investments in education, culture, and sports yield results. I am convinced that with joint efforts we will continue to build on what has been achieved in a spirit of good partnership and mutual trust," said Mayor Angel Gerov at the signing of the program.
Under the program, the company provides funds to support activities and improve the conditions for educational classes at Savo Savov Secondary School, Todor Vlaykov Primary School, and Peka and Karlo Chokoniani Kindergarten. Renovation work is planned on outdoor staircases and suspended ceilings in the kindergarten's playrooms and bedrooms, as well as co-financing of renovation work in the primary school.
Support will be provided for the activities of sports clubs in the municipality, as well as the renovation of the ceiling of the Ivan Minkin Sports Hall. The program also includes support for the activities of the "Napredak - 1868" and "Svetlina - 1910" community centers, amateur groups and clubs, as well as the installation of a heat pump in the "Napredak - 1868" community center.
Among the highlights are measures to impr
ove the energy efficiency of Medical Center I in Pirdop by installing a photovoltaic system and air conditioners, upgrading and expanding the video surveillance system in the town, as well as installing a steam system and repairing the roof of the Pascal hut. "We are proud that Aurubis Bulgaria is a long-standing and reliable partner of the municipalities in the Srednogorie region.

Aurubis Bulgaria's partnership programs with the municipalities of Pirdop, Zlatitsa, and Anton in the Srednogorie region are framework agreements that set out the main priorities and projects and are renewed periodically. The company has invested over six million leva in the development of the region over the past five years.
Earlier in December 2025, Aurubis Bulgaria signed a new partnership program with the municipality of Zlatitsa, under which the company provided EUR 563,000 for the implementation of priority projects in support of the local community. With this program in the Municipality of Pirdop, the total amount of funds for the two municipalities amounts to over 1.1 million euros. In addition, Aurubis Bulgaria is implementing a partnership program with the Municipality of Anton, thereby confirming the company's long-term and consistent commitment to the sustainable development of the entire Srednogorie region.
