Construction began in 2022, marking a milestone investment in multi-metal recycling and a major step toward securing critical raw materials in North America. Located in Augusta, Georgia, within Richmond County, the site is strategically positioned to serve both domestic and international markets. While it reflects a global commitment to innovation, Aurubis Richmond also represents a local partnership—bringing advanced industrial capability and high-quality employment to the Augusta region. With this facility, Aurubis continues to expand its international footprint and set new standards for sustainable growth in the metals industry.
Excellent starting position
Aurubis is entering the US recycling market at the perfect time: the US market has high potential, while the significance of crtical metals is rising steadily in the US. There is a significant increase in collection volumes positively contributing to the availability of volumes of recyclable, metal-bearing materials in the US. Most of the recycling materials have been exported to Asia up to this point.
With the new US recycling plant, Aurubis becomes a forerunner in multimetal recycling in the US, a position the company already holds in Europe. The use of metallurgical technologies that are proven in the market yet still innovative, together with a flexible input mix, makes Aurubis Richmond a “one-stop shop” for local suppliers.
