Community Engagement
At Aurubis Richmond, we believe that being a good neighbor means more than operating responsibly. It means actively supporting the community we call home. Each year, employees receive 8 hours of paid volunteer time off to give back through service projects and non-profit partnerships. In addition, our team contributes time, resources, and funding to initiatives that create meaningful impact for families, children, and the environment in the Augusta region.
Our community engagements
Aurubis Richmond supports United Way through an annual employee giving campaign, encouraging team members to contribute to programs that address local needs. Our employees also participate in Project Serve, a day of volunteering across the community, and join seasonal initiatives such as the Empty Stocking Fund, which provides holiday gifts for families in need, and Stuff the Bus, which supplies local children with school materials. United Way works to improve education, financial stability, and health for people across the CSRA.
Aurubis Richmond is proud to sponsor the Girl Scouts S’morevivor event, where teams take on fun challenges that build leadership, teamwork, and confidence. The Girl Scouts empower young girls to develop skills, discover new interests, and make a positive impact in their communities.
Families with seriously ill children find comfort and support through the Ronald McDonald House, which provides lodging and resources near the Children’s Hospital of Georgia. Aurubis Richmond is proud to fund a new theater room where families can gather and enjoy time together. We also served as a Gold Sponsor of the 2024 Christmas Parade and send volunteers to prepare meals for families staying at the house.
Through Junior Achievement’s BizTown and Finance Park programs, students experience real-world business and financial concepts in an interactive learning environment. Aurubis Richmond proudly sponsors a storefront at Junior Achievement’s facility, giving young people hands-on experience in entrepreneurship and career readiness.
Aurubis Richmond is proud to support environmental education in our community by sponsoring Cougar Camp, where middle school students learn about metal recycling, e-waste, wastewater, and conservation. We also partner with the Phinizy Center for Water Sciences by participating in the Phinizy Swamp Soirée, an annual fundraiser that sustains the center’s educational programs and conservation efforts to protect the unique ecosystem of Phinizy Swamp.
Child Enrichment provides critical services to children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment, offering advocacy, counseling, and support. Aurubis Richmond contributes as a sponsor of the Heroes for Hope 5K Run, which raises awareness and funding for these life-changing programs.
The American Heart Association (AHA) is a nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke, advancing cardiovascular research, and promoting healthier communities through education, advocacy, and outreach. At Aurubis Richmond, we are proud to support the AHA and its mission by participating in the annual Heart Walk. This event raises funds and awareness for heart health while bringing people together to celebrate survivors, honor loved ones, and encourage healthier lifestyles. Our team is committed to walking alongside the community to support the fight against heart disease and to promote wellness both inside and outside the workplace.
