At Aurubis, environmental protection is an elementary part of corporate policy. Throughout the Group, Aurubis is a leader in environmental protection when compared internationally.
Significant investment in environmental protection and the continuous improvement of plant technologies has enabled, for instance, specific emissions to be reduced since 1990 by up to 90%.

Sustainable development, such as the conservation of resources by recycling and – as far as possible – the complete utilisation of raw materials by transferring them into new products is a high priority for Aurubis.
 
As an energy-intensive company, particular importance is attributed to increasing energy efficiency and reducing CO₂-emissions. The continuous improvement in water protection, soil protection and the ambient air quality are key targets in the environmental protection sector.
 
In 2008 Aurubis published a sustainability report for the first time for the reporting period of 2007. The report is oriented to the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative on sustainability reporting (GRI) and can be downloaded here.
