Apart from the company-facilitated sports activities which have been held for decades, we have also been involved in mass sporting events for a long time. We follow the principle of sponsoring a number of projects in selected clubs, which are limited but long-term and well thought-out. For instance, we give them a financial basis for several years which enables them to plan and organize events better. We give special attention to projects from and for young people, above all those in southern Hamburg in the immediate vicinity of the Aurubis works premises.

Since 2003 the Group has supported the ladies’ volleyball team TV Fischbek and has even been their main sponsor since 2006. The successful German league team was called NA.Hamburg starting in 2007/08. Since Norddeutsche Affinerie AG was renamed as Aurubis, the team now plays under the name VT Aurubis Hamburg.

Aurubis has been the main sponsor of the handball teams of SG Wilhelmsburg since 1999. The emphasis here is especially on the youth work in the club.

In Lünen the football clubs BV Lünen 05 and Lüner SV have been sponsored for several years now.

Our commitment was rewarded by the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce in 2008, when Aurubis, at the time still Norddeutsche Affinerie AG, won the SportMerkur 2007 for its outstanding commitment to sports sponsoring.
