The Executive Board informs the Supervisory Board at regular intervals, promptly and in depth about all the relevant questions regarding corporate planning, business development, the risk situation and risk management. The Company’s strategic orientation is agreed with the Supervisory Board.
Dr. Stefan Boel
Dr. Stefan Boel
Member of the Executive Board
Born in 1966. After studying chemistry and receiving his doctorate from the University of Antwerp, Dr Stefan Boel held various positions in production, supply chain management and sales at Aralco N.V. in Belgium.
He worked in product development and marketing in the former Copper Division of Umicore S.A. starting in 2001 and was subsequently the Commercial Director of the Umicore plant in Bulgaria.
He has been Vice President of Copper Refining and Mining Projects and a member of the Executive Committee since the demerger of Cumerio from the Umicore Group.
Dr Stefan Boel was appointed to the Aurubis AG Executive Board effective 19 April 2008 and has been responsible for the copper products sector since then.

Erwin Faust

Born in 1957. After studying economics at the St. Gallen Trade University (Switzerland), Erwin Faust initially worked for Otto Wolf Industrie-Anlagen GmbH in Cologne.
He worked for the Volkswagen Group from March 1989 to 1995, developing the controlling process in the course of the acquisition of Skoda in Prague. He then held management positions at VAW Aluminium in Bonn until 2007.
Before he started at Aurubis, Erwin Faust was Chief Financial Officer of Novelis Europa, a subgroup of the world’s largest producer of rolled aluminium products, Novelis Inc. based in Atlanta (USA). Novelis was separated from Alcan Inc. and went public in 2005. Faust was Financial Director of the European rolled products division at Alcan Inc. starting in 2003 and participated extensively in the deconsolidation of the European companies. In his function as Chief Financial Officer of Novelis Europa, Erwin Faust also served on the supervisory committees of the European companies and as the Commercial Director of the German company.

Born in 1962. After studying metallurgy at the Technical University Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Peter Willbrandt started at Aurubis (then Norddeutsche Affinerie) in Hamburg in 1988 as Plant Assistant in the primary smelter (RWO).
He was appointed Production Manager of the RWO in 1993 and was put in charge of the Metallurgy Division in 2001. Peter Willbrandt was granted power of procuration in 2003. He has been head of the primary copper production sector since 2004 and is responsible for the Group Environmental Protection department.
Peter Willbrandt was appointed deputy member of the Aurubis AG Executive Board in 2007 and has been a full member since 19 April 2008.
Peter Willbrandt was appointed Chief Executive Officer effective 1 January 2012.

Born in 1950. After studying metallurgy, he was a research assistant at the Institute for Metallurgy and Electrometallurgy at the TU Clausthal from 1975 to 1981.
He became Plant Assistant at Aurubis (then Norddeutsche Affinerie AG) in 1981 after he completed his doctorate. He took over the position of Plant Manager in 1983 and was appointed Director of Copper Plants in 1994.
He has been head of the copper production and recycling sector since 1996.
Dr Michael Landau was appointed deputy member of the Executive Board in 1998 and has been a full member since 1 June 1999.
